EGG SITUATION
REASONS FOR RATIONING (Special.) WELLINGTON. Jan. 15. The Minister of Marketing (the Hon. J. G. Barclay) states that the reasons for the rationing of egg supplies are the exceptional demand owing to the lateness of the vegetable season; the demand for the armed forces, due to the recent mobilisation, is greater; and there is an exceptional demand for ships’ stores. Owing to the conditions obtaining in the Pacific no eggs are being exported in the ordinary ■ sense. The Internal Marketing Department. in recommending distributors to ration supplies, has left the percentage to distributors. It is expected, added the Minister, that there will continue to he times when rationing will he necessarv to ensure oq uni treatment to resellers.
