TERRITORIAL TRAINING
MAN POWER COMMITTEE HEARS APPEALS The Otago Man Power Committee commenced a sitting in Dunedin this morning, when a number of appeals on behalf of men called up for collective JTerritorial training during JanuaryFebruary were dealt with. The committee comprised Mr D. O. Cameron (chairman), and Messrs G. V. Smith, W. R. Clarke, and' the Government' representative, Mr W. J. M. Grants Lieutenant R. A. Johnston, adjutant, Ist Otago Regiment, was also - in attendance. The National Mortgage and/Agency Co. Ltd. appealed on behalf of two clerks, T. A. R. Gringans and J. A. McDougall. They asked that their service be. deferred until a later camp,Both appeals were dismissed. Dalgety and Co. Ltd. appealed on behalf of A, M. M. Williams, a wool appraiser. It was dismissed subject to another employee not being called up until the termination of the camp. *Au appeal w*as lodged by the New; Zealand Loan and Mercantile Company Ltd. for W. K. Essen, a produce salesman, who was released from training for the first five weeks of the camp. A. and J. Watt Ltd. appealed for G, V. Booth, an apprentice cabinetmaker.The appeal was dismissed, as also wero those of J. W. Thomas, for O. F. Booth, a butcher, and Otago Motors Ltd., fop D. A. Darling, a motor parts assistant. John Houston lodged an appeal on behalf of W. M. Muir, a butcher, tha appeal being withdrawn, subject to another employee not being called up until the termination of the camp. An appeal by Allan Crighton Ltd.for E. R. Nesbit, a motor mechanic, was dismissed.
