FEW CHANGES RECORDED At the callover this morning all sections were quiet, although late rates were maintained. Little attention was directed towards Government loans, but the 1953 war loan, which has been displaying some activity, was again sought after a reported sale. National Banks showed a slight advance on seller’s quotation, but there was still no response to a steady bid for Commercials. The inquiry for insurances was again confined to Nationals and Standards, sellers raising their limit in the former. Standards were steady. Meat preserving lines were not so generally quoted, and the only vendor operating was offering South Otagos (ex dividend) at the reduced figure of £5 10s. The demand for loan and agencies was still tmsupplied, but there was stronger buying support for National Mortgages. In woollens a rise in bids for Bond’s Hosiery was unanswered, and Bruces and Kaiapoi (prefs) were also asked for. In the miscellaneous section there were no changes of note, and those lines usually inquired for continued in demand. SALES REPORTED. —This Morning.— Bank of New Zealand (late), £2 Os 2d. War Loan, 1953, £B7 10s. Clutha River, Is 6d. McKenzies (late), £2 2s Bd.
