The rainfall recorded at Kelburn for the 21 hours to 9.30 a.in.—4.loin— constitutes a Wellington record for anv 24 hours in the month of October, and makes approximately 6in for the two days on which rain has been falling. It is still raining, and more is forecast . . . The Makara district is isolated, preventin': the transport of milk from that area. AUCKLAND VISITATION (r.A.) AUCKLAND October 3. A high north-westerly wind, almost of gale force, swept Auckland during the night and early this morning, accompanied at times by heavy bursts of rain, hut little damage was caused apart from orchaids and gardens. The rainfal to 9 a.m. was .sGin. EXPRESSES DELAYED (P.A.) AUCKLAND, October 3. The first express from Wellington arrived at Auckland about 1 p.m., almost six hours late, as the result of flooding near Paekakariki, while the Limited due at 9.30 this morning, was expected to arrive about 3.30 p.m., having been diverted through Wairarapa over the Rimutaka Ranges.
