The fortieth annual festival will be held at His Majesty’s Theatre. Victoria Hall, and the Concert Chamber from August 27 to September 6, The official opening will, take place at His Majesty’s Theatre on. August 27. Excellent entries have been received for this year’s festival, 1,700 entries having been received, and most interesting programmes have been arranged for morning, afternoon, and evening-sessions. The evening sessions consist of two recalls from-the day sessions, and in addition there will be choirs, impromptu _ speeches, and debates, and children’s action songs arid choruses, etc. A special attraction this vear will be the night, when sis ballets will be presented. All the afternoon, programmes ■will be interesting, including numerous dancing items. and deligthful children’s action songs. Season tickets are obtainable at the secretary’s office or at Messrs Obas. Begg and Co The bos plan will open at Messrs Chas. Begg and Co. oh Friday, August 22.
