THE GREAT LEVANTE

MASTER MAGICIAN CUMING TO DUNEDIN Master magician, the Great Levante, is coming to Dunedin with his all-Enghsh star company of 32 artists after baffling the northern cities of the Dominion, and will present his amazing and intriguing mystical revue aptly entitled ’ How s Tricks? 1 for a brief season commencing on Thursday night next. ‘ How’s Tricks? 1 is said to be the fastestmoving revue ever seen upon any stage; it is so fast “ that if you turn to nod to a friend you’ll miss a trick.” It is full of snap, and completely revolution ary in the technique of magic. Dunedin theatregoers will have an opportunity to judge for themselves when this exceptionally clever combination of artists appears. One Auckland paper stated that “ he did everything but reduce one’s income tax return and swell the walls of the theatres in which hundreds

of people who had been clamouring to get in had to be turned away. Levante is indeed marvellous.” One particularly pleasing spectacle is ’ Protea,’ a kaleidoscopic presentation of scena, tableaux, and song, in which some magnificent views of all nations, especially Scotland, are shown, with some of its an-

cient castles. Songs in costume are given. Some of the outstanding acts are those ol Esme Levante and her Oriental maids; “Melba,” shadograpbist; Rex and Bess, acrobatic and novelty dancers, direct from Jack Hylton’s famous English band; the Moderniques, Anglo-American and Continental dancers; the Mayfair Five, ladies in

vocal and instrumental harmony; and Levante’s Glamour Girls. ( The Dunedin season is for nine nights, with matinees on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 2.15. The box plans are at the D.I.C.
