OTAGO CLUB'S MEETING SUCCESSFUL PATRIOTIC EFFORT The names of 34 members who arc on active service were read at the annual meeting of the Otago Golf Club on Saturday. The president (Mr Arthur Barnett), moving the adoption of the annual report and balance sheet, referred to the success of the club’s effort to raise funds for the Red Cross appeal, as. a result of which a contribution of £3OO had been made. On the recommendation of the committee it was decided to make a contribution of £IOO from the past year’s surplus to the “ Comforts for Fighters ” Fund. The captain (Mr J. R. Callender) stated that the success of the club’s patriotic effort was largely due to the energy and enterprise of the president. The following officers were elected :—President, Mr Arthur Barnett; captain, Mr J. R Callender; committee—Messrs R. R. Aspinall, P. Calev, J. H. M’Dougall, E. A. Reed, and C. R. Spackman; auditor, Mr G. H, G. Smith. The retiring members of the committee, Messrs J. A. Scoular and A. N. Haggitl, were accorded a vote of thanks for their services. A recommendation was made to the committee that arrangements should be made to send parcels as a gift from the club to members on active service overseas. SATURDAY’S RESULTS. A St. Andrew’s Cross bogey handicap was played on the Balmacewen links on Saturday. In the A grade section the winner was W. C. Romeril (handicap 4), with a score of 2 up. F. J. Morrison (handicap 11) won the B grade section with a score of all square. The following were the leading scores:—A Grade: W. C..Romeril (4) 2 up, A. C. Macdonald (7) 1 up, L. A. Kayo (6) 1 down, T. B. Ferguson (0) 2 down, J. N. Lemon (1) 2 down, W. A. Mitson (6) 2 down, J. A. M’Causland (7) 2 down, W. F. Edmond (6) 3 down. B grade: F. J. Morrison (11) all square, HI W. Bundle (9) 1 down, P. In iho 72 holes four-ball challenge match in which E. S. Douglas is partnered with K. Ross against A. G. Sime and W. G. Wight, the former pair is now leading by 12 holes. In the third round of 18 holes Douglas had a score of 69 and the best ball score was 65. st. cum The best cards returned in the four-ball Stableford bogey handicap, played by the St. Clair Club on Saturday, were as follows;—Burnett and Crimp, 42 —24—66; Osborn and N. L. Jones, 41—24 —66; Satterthwaite and Gamble, 49—16—65; A. M. Jones and Bolwell, 41—24—65; Joblin and Templeton, 46 —19—65; Penman and Gourloy, 45—20—65; Scott and Rackley, 44—20 —64; Clayton and Shepherd, 45—19—64; Bayliss and Blackie, 44 —19—63; Bennie and Butler, 52—10—62; Delbridge and Westlake, 35-25—60. ’ Matches played in the four-ball knockout competition resulted as follows: M’Ghie and Clark defeated M’Kenzie and Tyson, 1 up; Tuck and Fanils defeated Griffiths and Grimsdale, 6 and 5; Cole and Duncan defeated Routledge and Meade, 7 and 5. CHISHOLM PARK LADIES’ CLUB Canadian foursomes were played by the .Chisholm Park Ladies’ Club on Saturday, the best scores being as follows: —Misses Gore and Manson, 105 —3—72; Miss Black and Mrs Bailey, 101 —28—73; Mrs Duncan and Miss Bain, 110 —35 —75; Mrs Potts and Miss Howard, 110—35—75; Mrs Thomson and Miss Greenway, 110—31—79. PORT CHALMERS LADIES’ CLUB The results of a sealed hole match played by the Port Chalmers Ladies’ Club on Saturday were as follows; —Miss Davies 31, Miss Mains 32, Mrs Lewis 33, Mrs Hunt and Miss Wood 34 Miss Davies reduced her handicap by four strokes.
