APPEAL TO PUBLIC

STRETCHER-BEARERS REQUIRED EMERGENCY PRECAUTIONS SCHEME i An appeal to the public was recently made for support to supply, should an emergency arise, bearers for the transport of the injured. At least 400 hearers are required, and so far the response to date has been only 20. If the public is not prepared to assist now in this important work, it is impossible to make the organisation efficient. For bearers, the organisation requires:—(l) Boys, aged 16 to 19; (2) women who feel that they could do this work; (3) men over military age, who are not doing any other war work. Replies should be addressed to tho secretary, Mr H. Chisholm, Box 686. Dunedin.
