Spender, announced that he had received news from Tobruk and the mountains in Greece that the Australians had tasted the enemy’s mottle and were in great heart and full of confidence in the outcome of the fight. Mid cl le East commnukpie states: Throughout yesterday and the previous night aircraft of the R.A.F. and the R.A.A.F. continued to harass the enemy in Cyrenaica by repeated bombing and machine-gun attacks. Motor transportations, enemy troops, landing grounds, and store dumps were bombed repeatedly and considerable damage was caused. At Derna bombs fell among a number of enemy aircraft dispersed on the ground, and fires were started. Heavy detonations were felt by the pilots 3,000 ft up. In Greece our aircraft continued offensive patrols, during one of which an ME 109 was shot down. On other fronts there is little of importance to report. From all operations our aircraft returned safely.
