EASTER ACCIDENTS
GOOD f.OAD RECORD [Per United Press Association.] AVKLITxGTON, April 18. Four persons were killed on the roads this Easter, compared with 18 during the same period last year, the Alinister of Transport, Air Semple, stated today. The Alinister said that the big improvement in the Easter accident position was an achievement of which all road users might be proud. Easter had always been a very bad time for traffic accidents, and more than 700 persons had been injured and 55 killed during the last five Easter periods. This year bad weather was a factor helping to reduce traffic during the latter part of the holidays, but the reports certainly indicated that motorists wore travelling in a more restrained or subdued manner than during the previous holiday periods. There were fewer cases of speeding, and there was more evident a spirit of courtesy between drivers. For tbe first time on record, tbe Alinister added, no fatal collisions had occurred hetwen two or more motor vehicles. Two persons were killed this Easter when a truck struck a power pole, and there were two fatal cycle accidents.
