BAPTIST BIBLE GLASSES
EASTER CAMP AT OAMARU Conditions were favourable for the Otago and Southland Baptist Young Men’s Bible Class Union’s Easter camp at Oamaru, at which Mr H. Hayward acted as camp commandant. One hundred and three campers answered the roll call, and were welcomed by the president, Mr C. H. M’Lean. Each day was'begun by a service of praise and prayer. On Good Friday a visit was paid to the Waitaki Boys’ High School, where a devotional service was held in the Hall of Memories. At the annual meeting the Rev. R. G. Bycroft was elected president. It was stated that 40 members of the union were serving with the forces. The theme of the camp studies was ‘ Soldiers of the King ’ —a progressive review of Christian life and service. The various trophies wore well distributed over , the classes as follows: —Junior talk, A. Turner (South Dunedin); senior sermonette, K. Roundhill (Mornington); Gospel solo, C. Collins (Hanover Street); junior sports shield, South Dunedin: senior sports shield, Roslyn. Two open-air meetings were held, one in the Oamaru main street and one in the Oamaru Gardens. On Easter Sunday morning the service was conducted in the Baptist Church by the Rev. H. R. Turner, and a Bible class choir under the baton of Mr Andrew M’Lay contributed appropriate Easier music. The evening service was held at the camp, and the preacher was the newlyelected president. At this service a number of young men signified their acceptance of Christ as Saviour, and others rededicated their lives to Christian service.
