STILL IDLE IN PORT

AUCKLAND FISHING FLEET [Per United Press Association.J AUCKLAND. March 11. Auckland’s fishing fleet stayed in port again to-day while the fishermen awaited the decision of the Minister of Industries and Commerce, Mr Sullivan, regarding their dispute with, the fish merchants. Although the matter was reported to have been placed in the Minister’s hands on Monday no decision from him was received in Auckland to-day, and the fishermen intend to stay in port until the dispute is settled. The fishermen first refused to sail over the week-end when .they claimed that although an increase of id per lb as from March 1 was granted for sehnapper, terakihi, and kingfish by the Price Tribunal, all did not receive the increased price from the merchants for their fish last week. The increase was justified by the rising costs of operating their boats, they said.

No statement about the situation has been made by the Auckland Wholesale Fish Merchants’ Association. The men’s refusal to sail will bring about a shortage of fish at the end of the week. Repair work was continued to-day on the boats.
