REGENT
' Four Wives.’ sequel to * Four Daughters.’ and now at the Regent, is well acted, brisklv produced, and tells a story that is good" and heartening to listen to. There are no false starts and no fake excitement, but there is plenty of real drama and more than a little fun and music in this story of a family of four daughters. Also on "the programme is ‘ Cavalcade cf Academy Awards.’ • YOUNG TOM EDISON.’ Mickev Rooney gives his most worthwhile piece of acting to date in ‘ Young Tom Edison,’ the fascinating biographical drama depicting the early lile ot the famous American inventor, Thomas Edison, which will be presented at the Regent on Friday. Them are, of course, thrills, mostlv concerned with the hoy’s inventive genius; lie amplifies light so that his mother can be operated on safely, and saves a train from crashing over a bridge which has been blown up by using an engine whistle to send a message in Morse. Young Tom is expelled from school for his somewhat disastrous inquisitiveness, but the end of the picture shows Uie start of his recognition as a youth with ideas and genius.
