EGYPT GENERAL MISSION
SOUTH ISLAND COUNCIL The South island Council of the hgypt General Mission, which met recently, was attended by a large and representative gathering of friends. The chairman, the Rev. W. A. Hamblelt, read a letter and greetings from the New Zealand representative, Mr Alex. Mill, embodying a call to prayer for those on the field. The statement of receipts and expenditure showed that with the balance of £26 9d 6d the sum, of £359 17s 2d had been received during the year. In regard to the Christmas gift fund, the balance last year was £1 9s 3d. and £B6 Is lOd had since been received. The Chairman gave an interesting account of the very early history of the South Island Auxiliary. He stated that during the past 36 years the sum of £7,625 had been received in the South Island, besides many very valuable gifts in kind.
The secretaries .presented the local report, which comprised a survey of the history and development of the work in the South Island. In 'presenting the field report he emphasised that the day was
a “ day of memorial.” The report dealt with tiio development of all stations on the'field, and the increase in the numbers of people coming into touch with the mission.
