BRITISH SQUADRON SAILS AT DAWN MEDITERRANEAN! BATTLE SURMISED LONDON, November 8. (Received November 9. at 2 p.m.) The Madrid correspondent of the Associated Press says that reports from La Linea state that a British fleet consisting of a battleship, two cruisers, eight destroyers, two submarines, and an aircraft carrier left Gibraltar at dawn. Heavy gunfire was heard in the Mediterranean soon afterwards. It is impossible to confirm the report.
