STRIBKLAND-ALABAMA KID BOUT [Pku Uniteu Press Association.J WELLINGTON, November B.‘ In connection with the Auckland report yesterday respecting the Strick-land-Alabama Kid match at Palmerston North, the secretary of the New Zealand Boxing Council (Mr Aldridge) said to-day that certain obstacles would have to be overcome before the bout could take place. The contest would have to be staged by the Mnnawatu Association, which could not delegate its power to anyone else, while the purse would have to be divided on a GO-40 basis and permission obtained to go beyond the limit of £l3O. Ho added that the council’s levies on the purse and takings must he paid. No application for the light had yet been received not definitely arranged. Mr Lucas, the Australian promoter and manager, says the light has not been di finitely arranged. Denying the
report that the Manawatu Association bad asked him to promote the contest, he said the position was that it had asked him as one with experience, to assist' in arranging and staging the bout. Li regard to the purse, the position was that the Manawatu Association intended to apply for permission to give a larger purse than was provided for under the rules, there being provision for special circumstances Ho added that negotiations in connection with the contest were proceeding.
