PRESBYTERY OF DUNEDIN

MONTHLY MEETING The Presbytery of Dunedin, at itM monthly meeting last night, received a call from the Opoho congregation in favour,of the Rev. J G. S. Dunn, of: Port Chalmers.* Out of a roll of 119 members 76 had signed the invitation. Representatives of th« Opoho charge expressed the, heartiness and unanimity of the call. Commissioners from Port Chalmers congregation read an appre* dative minute concerning Mr Dunn’s _worle among them, but, in view of his desire to accept the call, intimated that no opposition would be placed in his way.—lt was decided that the service to induct Mr Dunn to his new charge be held on Thursday, Decern* ber 5. PROPOSED HOSTEL. The Rev. H. W. Turner reported that art endeavour to establish a hostel for men! students of the Training College was being made Mr Turner, who is assistant minister of Knox Church, outlined the proposal, anil the Presbytery expressed its sympathy with.' what was being attempted. LICENSING OF STUDENTS. Messrs E. E. Dyason, C. M'Caskill, and W. G. MTntosh, students for the ministry of the Presbyterian Church, having com* pleted the course of study prescribed, ap» plied to bo taken on trials for license. These having been sustained, it was decided to conduct the usual service of licens* ing in Knox Church on November 21. STRATH TAIERI CHARGE. 'lt was announced that arrangements' fdU the induction of the Rev. L. H. Kcr to th« charge of Strath Taieri in the church ah Middlemarch had been, completed, the dat* fixed for the induction being Thursday eresv* ing, November 7. NEW CHURCH AT WAKARI. The foundation stone of the new church at Wakari is to be laid on November 26. II was stated that the help given by the congregations of the Presbytery had been very, gratifying, and the financial position of tbul new venture was good. MOTION OF SYMPATHY. The Presbytery, passing a motion of sjum pathy with the widow and family of th* Rev. P. B. Fraser, was reminded that t» him, along with the Rev. J. H. MacKenzie, belonged the honour of developing the Nelson system of Bible' instruction in Stat« soliools, under which 90,000 children arf taught the facts of the Scriptures.
