MANCHESTER UNITY
N.G. Bro. Pope presided over the fortnightly meeting of Loyal Centenary Lodge. P.G. Bro. Peake advised the lodge that he was going into camp. Two new members were initiated at the ordinary meeting of Loyal Princess Mary Lodge, presided over by Sister E. Longworth. Arrangementas were completed for the reception of official visits from sister lodges at the next meeting, which would take the form of a musical evening, items in the main to be provided by members of the lodge. Loyal Caversham Lodge opened in mourning out of respect of the' late Bro. It. M‘Lean, a highly respected member, who joined the lodge in 1886. The usual motion of condolence with relatives was passed by members standing in silence. Since the outbreak of war four sitting officers had left for service overseas. The seventy-sixth anniversary of the Loyal Albion Lodge was celebrated by a smoke social on Thursday evening last. N.G. Bro. E. Poulter, who presided, was supported by the P.G.M., the P.S.G.M., and District Officers Couper and Hanrahan. The meeting was representative of all city and suburban lodges. P.G. Bro. A. Taylor, who was going ou active service, was bidden farewell, and V.G. Bro. Parker, who was jciiiing the Benedicts, was duly honoured. A special toast was accorded old members, and in reply P.G. Bro. Davy, the lodge’s oldest member, mentioned that the Davy family was represented in the Albion Lodge unto the fifth generation. A fine programme was presented by Messrs Albert Walmsley, N. Larkins, H. Bruce, C. Oaten, M’Kinlay, and Finnic, the accompanist being Mr Ron Orr.
