MEAN THEFT YOUNG MAN SENT TO GAOL [Per United Press Association.] CHRISTCHURCH, July 5. “ This was a particularly mean and despicable theft—3o days with hard labour,” said Mr Levvey, S.M., to Clifford Boyd Ogilvie, A labourer, aged 23, who was charged with falsely representing that he was an agent authorised to collect subscriptions for a raffle in aid of tho Sick and Wounded Fund.
The police said Ogilvie went from door to door selling tickets in a raffle for a ton of coal, and had collected £4 16s in two days.
