FOUND BATTERED IN SWAMP YOUNG MAN CHARGED WITH MANSLAUGHTER [Per United Press Association.] HAMILTON, July 5. Hearing of the charge of manslaughter against a Maori labourer, John Kite, aged 23, was continued in the Huntly Police Court to-day, yesterday’s evidence being that of a number of Maori witnesses, whose evidence had to be interpreted. They told of hearing cries for help from the direbtion of deceased’s whare, and that accused had visited deceased’s whare to purchase liquor. One witness told the court that on the Sunday he noticed blood marks on accused’s clothes. Evidence of finding the body was given by a farm hand, who said the deceased was a frail and unhealthy Hindu. Tho body was lying 75yds from the whare, with the face severely injured, and partially submerged in the swamp.
