WORLD’S LARGEST SUBMARINE IN BRITISH HANDS.—The French undersea vessel Surcouf which is reported to. be safe from the Germans in an English port. This submarine has a diplacement of 2,880/4,300 tons and carries a seaplane. The lower picture shows the hangar open. The built in 1929, but did not officially enter into service until 1934. She has a cruising radius of 12,000 miles and a sea speed 1 of 10 kilometres. She can submerge in two minutes and stay-submerged for a period of GO hours while her diving limit is over 70 fathoms.
