WATERFRONT CONTROL

COMMISSION'S FIRST SESSION PRESENTATION OF EMPLOYERS' CASE [Pan United Press Association.] WELLINGTON, April 17. The Waterfront Control Commission set up by the Government to deal with problems arising on the waterfronts and the rates of pay and conditions for waterside workers commenced its sitting to-day, Mr R. E. Brice presiding. The other members are Mr H. A. M'Leod (Master Stevedore, Wellington) and Mr James Roberts (secretary of the New Zealand Waterside Workers’ Union). It is understood that Mr W. H. G. Bennett (secretary of the New Zealand Waterside Employers’ Association) is presenting the case to-day on behalf of the employers. The proceedings, which are not open to the Press, are expected to occupy some days.
