DUNEDIN CLUB MEETS SUCCESSFUL SEASON IN RETROSPECT The annual meeting of the Dunedin Rugby Football Club was held- on Thursday night, some 50 members being present. In moving the adoption of the annual report and statement or receipts and expenditure, the president (Mr S. Butler) congratulated the members on the successful season experienced by the club last year. The third and fifth grades had won the championships in their respective competitions, and the second and fourth grades had been runners-up in theirs. Reference was made to the deaths during the past year of three members of the club—Pilot-officer J. Boreham, Mr R. Isaacs (a life member), and Mr L, Aitken. A vote of sympathy with the relatives was passed. The election of officers for the ensuing season resulted as follows: — Patron, Mr A. C. Haynes (re-elected) ; president, Mr S. Butler; vice-president, Mr T. F. Direen; honorary vice-presi-dents—the Rev. Bro. Cervetto, Messrs A. J. Dowling. H. Marshall, C. W, Clements, R. Herbert, H. O’Reilly, H. C. Carter, J. V. Toomey, M. P. O’Sullivan, J. Bourke, J. Hayes, G. Crowley, P. Heffernan, 6. D. O’Connell, C. Southon; secretary, Mr T. B. Mooney; treasurer, Mr R. Marshall; club captain, Mr J. O’Connor; committee — Messrs M. Spillane, A, Manion, T. Treacy, P. Treacy, L. Marshall, A. C. Haynes, C. Collett; auditor, Mr L, I. o’Regan.
It was decided that the official opening day should he held on April 6, and that it should take the form of a practice and a social reunion between old and new members. The meeting 1 concluded with a vote of thanks to the retiring executive. TAIERI CLUB ANNUAL MEETING The annual meeting of the Taieri Rugby Football Club was held in the William Allan Pavilion. The president (Mr R. T. Kirk) occupied the chair. The Chairman urged members to endeavour to reduce the debt on the pavilion. He moved the adoption of the report and balance sheet, which was seconded by Mr A. W. M'Cunn an( j The election of officers resulted as follows: —President, Mr A. W. M'Cunn, sen.; senior vice-president, Mr J. C. Muirhead; secretary, Mr W. J. Campbell; assistant secretary, Mr B. Wilkins; treasurer, Mr T. Sproule; club captain, Mr B. Sproule; committee—Messrs G. Murray, D. Cursey, W. P. Hartstonge, C. G. Gibbons, J. Tansley, G. A. Broadley; auditor, Mr A. Mitchell; delegates to the O.R.h. Union—Messrs C. G. Gibbons, J. C. Muirhead, and G. A. Broadley. It was resolved to leave the selection of a coach to the committee. Mr Matheson moved that three selectors be appointed, and that they should select the first and second grade teams. The motion was carried, and the following selectors were appointed:—Messrs C. G. Gibbons, J. M'Leod, and J. Renton. The opening day was fixed for April 6, evening practices to be commenced on April 2. , Special reference was made to the worn of the coaches and the success of the third grade team. Congratulations were extended to the winning teams in the third and first grades; to -J. ’Barron, who had toured the Fsorth Island with the Otago team; to S. M'Cartney and B. Wilkins, who had represented Otago; and to J. Coombes, who had represented Otago in the fourth grade representative team.
