BOWLS CHAMPIONSHIP
CONTEST NARROWED DOWN three players still in the running Five rounds in the champion of champions singles tourney were concluded yesterday, five players being left in to continue the battle to-day. These were Tyrrell (Roslyn), Gardiner (Dunedin), Anderson (Portobello), Edwards (Caledonian), and Cooke (Taieri). Tyrrell was the only two-lifer. He had a bye this morning in the sixth round, but was defeated in the seventh by Gardiner. By luncheon, Cooke and Edwards were eliminated. Results to hand are as follows: KAITUNA GREEN. —Fourth Round. — Tyrrell 17, Edwards IC. Scott 17, Foster 11. Marshall 22, Clark 12. Foster and Clark were eliminated. —Fifth Round.— Tyrrell 19, Scott 18. Edwards 19, Marshall 17. Scott and Marshall were eliminated. KAIKORAI GREEN. —Fourth Round.— Gardiner 20, Chapman 17. Anderson 23, Marshall 13. Cooke 13, Bolt 10. Marshall and Bolt were eliminated. —Fifth Round.— Anderson 19, Gardiner 14. Cooke 24, Chapman 7. Chapman was eliminated. CONCLUDING GAMES. The concluding rounds, which wore played on Kaikorai Green, are as under:— —Sixth Round.— Tyrrell had a bye. Gardiner 22, Edwards 19. Anderson 18, Cooke 11. —Seventh (Round.— Anderson had a bye.
