NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS MEETING OPENED AT PETONE [P*r United Press Association.] WELLINGTON, February 16. - The first events in the national cycling championships were held at the Petone Oval to-night, prominent cyclists from all parts of the Dominion attending the meeting, which will be continued to-morrow. Results:— New Zealand 1,000 Metre Time Trial Championship. —J. W. Partridge (Auckland) 1, C. R. Gooder (Auckland) 2, O. Drury (Otago) 3. Time, Imin 24 l-ssec. Half-mile, Open.—First heat: M. Green (Auckland), 20yds, 1; C. Biggs (Wellington), 40yds, 2; R. ,T. Taylor (Auckland), scr, 3. Time, 63 l-ssec. Second heat: J. Wooller (Auckland), 30yds, 1; H. Laurie (Petone), 50yds, 2; M, Graham (Palmerston North), 40yds, 3. Time, 64 4-ssec.
