GRAND

Gaumont-British Distributors have released an often ridiculously amusing film in the British production ‘ Ask a Policeman,’ which is at the Grand, and features the English comedian Will Hay. As a sergeant of police in an obscure village, and one who has effected no arrest in 10 years. Will Hay, with two constables, eventually gets on the track of some smugglers, whom the trio trace to a huge cave on the seashore, pursue in a crowded London bus, and finally capture on a speed track during a motor car race. This final sequence is genuinely entertaining and well produced, and directed with a keen eye to its farcical possibilities. ‘ Crackerjack,’ the associate feature, brings Tom Walls back to the screen in the part of a modern Robin Hood. Unfortunately, a gang starts using his name, and ho is thus accused of a murder of which he is innocent.
