EMPIRE
“ Beasts behind bars ” sums up the theme of the story of Mutiny in the Big House,’ the .attraction now at the Empire. It is said to bo one of the most powerful pictures of the year. Imagine how terror rules the big house when desperate men are bossed by a half-human killer; “ one dare not take one’s eyes off the screen for a second, or a shocking, sensational thrill will be missed.” Although you will despise Red Manson, played by Barton MacLane, a cruel, cunning criminal with hate in his heart for all mankind, you will love Father Joe, played by Charles Bickford, a humble, heroic man who refused wealth so he could rebuild the souls of doomed men. Then there is Johnny, who forged a cheque to buy medicine for his sick mother and was sent up the river. He lost faith in the world, but found, it again.
