VACANCIES exist as follows in the undermentioned branches of the New Zealand Naval Forces:— ASSISTANT COOK.—Six vacancies for 12 years’ continuous service. Age limits, 18 to 23 years. Knowledge of cooking and baking is desirable, but not essential. ASSISTANT STEWARD OR BOY STEWARD.—Four vacancies for 12 years' continuous service for Assistant Steward. Age limits, 18 to 23 years. Twelve years’ continuous service from age’ 18 for Boy Steward. Ago limits, 16 to 18 years. Candidates are required to pass a test in reading, writing, and simple arithmetic. ENGINE ROOM ARTIFICER.—Six vacancies for 12 years’ continuous service. Age limits for candidates applying during present year, 19$ to 24 years. Candidates within one month of these age limits may bo considered in exceptional circumstances. Applications for entry must -reach the Defence Office NOT LATER THAN 12th APRIL, 1940 Twenty SHORT-SERVICE ORDINARY SEAMEN are required for entry in June, 1940. Candidates for entry should be between, the ages of 17i and 23 on 14th June, 1940. Service is for six years in the New Zealand Naval Forces, and six years in the Reserve, with an option of transferring to continuous service if recommended.
