CHIEF ENGINEER, APPLICATIONS are called for the position of CHIEF ENGINEER in N.Z.G.M.V. MAUI POMARE, nominal horse-power (for salary purposes) 350-450 u.h.p. . The appointment will be subject to tho conditions set out in the agreement between the New Zealand Institute of Marine and Power Engineers and the Union Steam Ship Company of New Zealand Ltd. Applicants should hold-a first class certificate for motor vessels, and experience with Diesel engines, with refrigeration, and in the carriage of fruit cargoes will be an advantage. Applications should be accompanied by recent testimonials and certificates, and should reach tho Secretary for External Affairs, Wellintgon, not later than 20th February, 1940. ROYAL N.Z. AIR FORCE. ENLISTMENT OF NON-FLYING PERSONNEL. THE Selection Committee of the Royal New Zealand Air Force will bo in attendance at the Drill Hall, Dunedin, on MONDAY, 12th February, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and on TUESDAY, 13tb February, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Inquiries in regard to enlistment (nonflying) are invited from skilled tradesmen. The period of engagement is five years, which may be extended. Applicants must fulfil the following requirements:— .(a) Be British subjects. (b) Be unmarried. (c) Be between the ages of 19 and 25 years. A recruit must have attained the ago of 19 years, but not passed his 25th birthday on 9th March, 1940. (d) Be physically fit for active service, (e) Be not less than sft Tin in height (in soclg:). (f) Have passed the Sixth Standard of education or its equivalent.
