BATHER ATTACKED BY SHARK Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright SYDNEY, February 4. A shark tragedy occurred at North Brighton beach, close to Sydney, today. John William Elk, aged 55, was attacked in a few feet of water and his left arm was torn off at the shoulder. Two fellow bathers suddenly saw Elk lashing the surf with his arms and the water became bloodstained. They immediately went to his assistance and brought him ashore and rendered first aid. Elk. however, died later in hospital.
