THE ‘RED FLAG.’

TO THE - EDITOR.

Sir, —“ Where ignorance is bliss ’tis folly to be wise.” This oft-repeated phrase aptly applies to your correspondent “ Ajax.” His quotation of the chorus of the ‘ lied Flag ’ is well in keeping with his ignorance in so far as this workers’ anthem applies to the Communist Party. It is just a pity that “ Ajax ” did not make himself conversant with the true facts before he went to the trouble of writing such an assortment of pure bunkum. _ Whether Mr Semple joined in the singing of this anthem or not is no concern of mine; perhaps the hon. Minister is not a very good singer. Your correspondent does not seem to bo greatly concerned regarding the ‘ Red Flag,’ but tries to get a little propaganda over at the same time. This is an old

trick. Let me inform “ Ajax ” that t|je anthem known as the ‘ Red Flag ’ was 'sung at nearly all the Labour Party conferences lung before the Labour Party ever became the Government, ancl if he can tell me anything that js contained in this anthem that is not true I would like to hear it. I am not a Communist, but have been for many years what is known • as a Socialist. Whether my ideals or my politics are right or wrong is another matter. All I want is “ Ajax ” to quote what I have asked about in a previous sentence—namely, the 1 Red Flag.’—l am, etc., Fiat Lux. December 8.
