OROKONUI HOME CONCERT

A concert party from 4ZB broadcasting station left the city on Saturday at 2 o’clock to entertain the inmates at Orokonui Home, Waitati, in the afternoon and the .patients at Pleasant Valley Sanatorium at Palmerston in the evening. Mr Steven, of the Patients and Prisoners’ Aid Society introduced the party at both places and Mr Don. Donaldson announced the various items. The programme included songs by Miss Connor, Miss Pauline Tozer, Mr Dennis Sheard, and Mr Mark Tozer. Mr James Arthur contributed several mouth organ numbers, and Mr Leslie (the magician) entertained with magic. Uncle Percy provided ample humour, both in song and story, and led communitv sings. Mr Mark Tozer was at the piano and also played ukulele accompaniments. The concerts were greatly enjoyed by all. At Orokonui Dr M'Lenn thanked the performers, and at Pleasant Valley Sanatorium thanks were expressed by Mr Sheat and one of the patients.
