JUNIOR CRICKET
ANNUAL MEETING OF COMMITTEE The annual meeting ot the Junior Committee of the Otago Cricket Association was held last night, a representative attendance of club delegates being present. The chairman (Mr J. H. Don Miller) reviewed the work of the committee since its inception and the results it had been able to achieve. He stated that there was an urgent need for a greater recognition of junior cricket and its value to the future of the game. It must be realised, however, that the war made the future very uncertain, and suggestions made must only be tentative. The following officers were elected:— President, Mr J. H. Don Miller; bon. secretary, Mr R. M‘Skimming; Emergency Committee Messrs Rayner (Carisbrook), Anderson (North-east Valley), Riach (St. Kilda); representative on Grade Committee, 0.C.A., Mr A. Riach; representative of O.C.A. on Junior Committee, Mr T. Hughes. It was unanimously decided to write the O.C.A. making the following recommendations for its approval:—That the Junior Selection Committee consist of a senior player and two members of the Junior Cricket Committee; that contact be made with minor asso-
ciations in an endeavour to promote junior representative games; that an Otago junior representative team be included in tho Country Week tournament.
