[Faoji Our O award Correspondent.] WARTIME ACTIVITIES. There will be no lack of voluntary workers in Oamaru during the war, should their services be needed. The St. John Ambulance Association has completed one home-nursing class, and has begun another, with about 60 members. The number at the Red Cross Society’s class last night was almost embarrassing, being nearly 70. In addition, a corps of 20 voluntary male hospital orderlies has been enlisted by the Red Cross Society. A committe has been formed to co-ordinate the work of the St. John Ambulance Association. and the Red Cross Society. TENNIS ASSOCIATION. The annual report of the North Otago Lawn Tennis Association states that the number of affiliated players had shown a slight decrease, there being 783 compared with 807 in 1937-38. Oamaru seniors and Wesley juniors are congratulated on winning the championships. Some clubs have not yet paid the levy of 2s (kl a member and 6d for country players > for the new grass cou: and the association’s funds are being depleted. The annual Christmas tournament showed a profit, and a substantial sura was raised by the Yankee tournament. Judgment’ by default for plaintiffs was entered by Mr H. W. Bundle, S.M., in the following civil cases at the Oamaru Magistrate’s Court yesterday: —Hallenstein Bros, v. L. Heselgrave, £1 8s 3d, costs 16s; W. H. Wylie v. Edmund James Russell. £3 ss, costs £1 5s 6d. GOLF. The North Otago Golf Club’s Cuthbertson Cup competition, for the best four gross medal scores of the season, has been won by R. B. Nichols. The Roxby Cup, for the best three net medal rounds, has been won, by J. Watson. WESLEY TENNIS CLUB. The following officers were elected at the annual meeting of the Wesley Tennis Club: —President; the Rev. W. B. Pickering; vice-presidents—Messrs O. Wylie, F. Chase, I. Dalmer. Mrs Campbell; secretary, Miss H. Gibb; captain, Mr D.
