(Received August 25, at 11 a.m.) Martin Smith, the Victorian professional. with a record-breaking round of 67, leads the field in the Australian open championship. The next are: C. Connors 70, the titleholder, Ferrier, K. Pix (Western Australia), N. Johnson (Western Australia), and C. Booth (New South Wales), all 71, von Nida, A. Waterson (New South Wales), H. Payne, G. Naismith, and M. Ryan (Victoria). _____
