SINGER AND GUITARIST
MADAME OLGA COELHO A singer with a classical background who is said to be able to translate her art to the popular national songs of her own country and make others see visions as she portrays them is Madame Olga Coelho, noted Brazilian singer, who will arrive in New Zealand from Continental and London successes. Mr A. J. Tait, who is well known through managerial ’ association with numerous concert celebrities, will introduce Madame Coelho to the Dominion, and the New Zealand tour will be inaugurated in the Concert Chamber on Saturday', September 2, when ranr.inee and night performances will bo given. At the conclusion of the series of concerts Madame Coelho will appear in Australia before departing for Africa.
On the concert platform Olga Coclho has been acclaimed for her singing and for her supplementing of _ her programme with guitar harmonies. Her original transcriptions for the guitar are said to reveal an artist of superlative knowledge and intuitive understanding of a universal human appeal, while Her picturesque and animated commentaries that precede each interpretation should interest and ainuse the audience. . . A programme embracing the classics together with the melodious love and folk songs of other countries, will be given.
