OUTPUT IN AUSTRALIA ORDERS FOR OTHER DOMINIONS Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright MELBOURNE, August 22, A preliminary survey of the progress of the Australian munitions programme, made by the Supply Department, shows that the output of small arms and ammunition is now three times that of a year ago. By December the production of anti-aircraft guns will be sis times greater than that of two years ago. The output of shells and Vickers guns is also vastly greater. Employees in armament factories now number 5,802. and the weekly wages bill is £25,000. General acceleration of the programme is claimed to have brought national self-containment in munition making within sight. Orders have already been undertaken for other dominions.
