TURKEY WANTS DOCTORS
Although Turkey may justly; be proud of .her physicians, such is the increasing demand for doctors as a consequence of the development of the country, that the shortage of medical help becomes more marked every year. In order to meet these requirements, new medical schools are being planned both at Ankara and at Brussa, where buildings are already being erected. Like tfo many other things in Turkey, medical science owes its first development to the army. But the latest development undoubtedly owes a great deal to the refugee professors of international standing whom Ataturk encouraged to take positions at Istanbul University. Ae regards leprosy, of which there are about 600 registered cases in the whole of the country, there is a lanarhouse with 100 beds at Elazig, -and another with 20 beds at Kars, near the Russian frontier. A third lazar-house to accommodate 80 persons will he organised at Istanbul in the course of this year.
