MATERNITY BENEFITS
ADDITIONS TO HOSPITAL AND NURSING LIST EVERY PRIVATE HOSPITAL IN WELLINGTON SIGNED UP [Per United Press Association.] AVELLINGTON. May 18. The Department of Health announces that since the publication of the list of acceptances of contracts in connection, with the maternity benefits the following additions have been made: — Sixteen names have been added to the private maternity hospital lists as follows:—One each at Morrinsville, AA r airoa. AA T anganui, Pahiatna, Motueka, Murchison, AA’aimate, Denniston, and AA'ollington; two at Gisborne and Balclutha; three at Te Aroha. Seventeen obstetric nurses’ names have been added as follows:—One each at Remuera, Mission Bay, Te Awamutu, Hamilton, New Plymouth, FoxAA’anganui, Timaru, Mosgiel, and Christchurch; two at Grey Lynn, Levin, and Lower Hutt. Every private maternity hospital in both the Taranaki and AA’ellington health districts is now included in the list of hospitals that have signed the contract. Particulars are being circulated to post offices for additions to the lists. Arrangements have been completed to ensure expeditious payment, and obstetric nurses and the licensees of private hospitals are in a position to receive payment from the fund promptly after the conclusion of their services.
Consideration has also been given to the representations made on behalf of the obstetric nurses who attend.patients on a visiting basis, and it has been decided that as from May 18, 1939, 5s a day will be paid for each of the 14 days subsequent to the date of birth of child, instead of 5s a day for three days and 2s (3d a day for 11 days.
