MR BEGG RE-ELECTED CHAIRMAN THIRD SUCCESSIVE TERM By 7 votes to 3 Mr W. Begg was last night appointed chairman of the Otago Harbour Board for the third year in succession, ■Mr A. Campbell being elected deputy-cbairman. Those present at the meeling were the chairman (Mr Begg) and Messrs J. B. AVaters,. R. Duncan, R. AValls, J. AV. Munro, M.P., D. E. H. Sharpe, A. Campbell, J. H. Duncan, AA r . R. Clarke, A. Smith. J. Preston, and B. S. Thompson. The nomination of Mr Begg was moved by Mr J. H. Duncan and seconded bv Mr AA r . R. Clarke. Mr Duncan said that Mr Begg had served the board well during the past two years, and he had' great pleasure in proposing him again. Mr R. Duncan nominated Mr AVaters as chairman. Mr AVaters had been chairman in a period when the board had passed through _ rather difficult times, Mr Duncan said. It was possible that the hoard was faced with difficult times ahead through falling revenue and increased expenses. Mr Begg had given good service, but he considered that it was good for the board and a fair thing that the position should be a moving one. Mr Smith seconded Mr Waters s nomination. The candidates then retired from the board room and the voting took place, Mr Begg being _ re-elected as chairman by 7 votes to 3. Both candidates returned thanks. Mr Munro moved and Mr AA’alls seconded l the nomination of Mr Campbell as deputy-chairman. There being no other nominations, Mr Campbell was elected deputy-chair-man.
