GARDEN PARTY AT MOUNT LODGE

Favoured with a fine afternoon, in the midst of incessant rain, Mrs W. F. Edmond was hostess at a most delightful garden party at Mount Lodge on Thursday afternoon. The grounds and garden are looking lovely, with masses of hydrangeas, delphiniums, roses, and other seasonable flowers, so well set against a background of shrubs and trees, and with abundant expanse of lawns. Guests were entertained on the sun verandah, from which such a charming view of the garden is obtained. The hostess wore a smart navy frock with widebrimmed bine hat and a cape of marabout feathers in beige toning. Mrs W. 0. M'Kellar’s becoming ensemble was in hyacinth blue wool georgette, and with this she wore a smart bat in navy straw with a bow in cyclamen satin. Mrs John Edmond’s navy frock had a relief on the bodice and short sleeves of multi-coloured embroidery, and her smart cap was in navy to tone. Tea and ices were served in the drawing room, where masses of roses were used as decoration, a crystal bowl of exquisite blooms being placed in the centre of the tea table. Afterwards the guests strolled in the grounds, admiring the wealth of bloom, which no doubt has been improved by the recent rains, and all were able to make their adieux while the sun still shone.
