POLICE COURT

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 25. (Before Mr H. W. Bundle, S.M.) DRUNKENNESS. A first offender was fined 20s, in default 24 hours’ imprisonment. MOTORISTS CHARGED. For failing to give way to traffic approaching from the right, George Lewis Brookes, who was involved in an accident, was lined 10s and costs. For overloading heavy traffic vehicles Ralph/Anderson and R. and J. Kane Ltd. were each fined 20s and costs. Ned Lahood pleaded not guilty to a charge of dangerous driving, and after evidence was heard, the defendant was fined £3 and costs (19s); also witnesses' expenses (£1 3s 6d). M‘Leod Bros. Ltd. were faced with two charges of exceeding their axle load. On the first they were fined 20s and costs, and on the other a conviction was entered. Three charges of overloading a heavy traffic vehicle were laid against Eric Smart and Sydney Smart, who were fined 20s and costs on one charge, and 10s costs on each of the other two charges. For parking their cars over a fire plug Airley Phyllis Jeavons, George Paterson Mitchell, George Scott, David Sloan, and Frank Waymouth were each fined 5s and costs. Alfred Franklin was fined 4s and costs. Walter William Alexander Isaac Watt, who had no warrant of fitness for a truck, was fined 10s and costs. Edmond Pycroft Rowlatt was fined 20s and costs for overloading a heavy traffic vehicle, and a fine of 5s and costs was imposed for his failure to have his license extended. Ernest Mavhee was fined 5s and costs for carrying'a person in front of the riding seat of a motor cycle. Ronald Hayward was fined 20s and costs for operating an unlicensed heavy traffic vehicle. .
