[Firou Ouit Oisiaru Correspondent.] SWIMMING. In the Oamaru Amateur Swimming Club’s first race of tho season for the vice-president’s Cup, 60yds free style, there was a good finish between O. Davies and R. Brown, but Davies, who was first, was disqualified. The result was: R. Brown 1, S. Miller 2, J. Cluleo 3. Time, 30 7-lOscc. At a general meeting of tho club, Miss N. M‘Laron was appointed assistant secretary, and Mr R. M'Larcn, honorary treasurer. BOY SCOUTS. A first class mapping test, carried out by No. 3. Troop of Boy Scouts, was passed by the followingP. G. Scoular 88, B. Leckie 82, R. Talbot 82, and W. Lee 81. St. Paul’s troop held a successful week-end camp at Taipo, despite inclement weather. MAGISTRATE’S COURT. On behalf of the staff of the Oamaru Railway Refreshment Rooms yesterday, Mr A. Bloch (manager) presented a gift to Mr W. J. Meadows, who left later, on promotion, to be manager at Otira. Mr S. O. Smith’s office, who is leaving Oamaru to take up a position at Greymouth, was the recipient of a gift from the Oamaru Amateur Swimming Club, of which he has been a most valued member for several years.
