Tho Now Zealand Shipping Company has received cabled advice that the Norfolk left Falmouth last Wednesday in ballast for New Zealand. She is due on the coast on January 2 to load Homeward. MAUNGANUI TRANSHIPMENTS. The Union Steam Ship Company advises that the Maunganui sailed from Melbourne at 10 yesterday morning for Bluff, Dunedin, and northern

ports. She is due here on Tuesday with transhipment cargo from the Mooltan, Moreton Bay, Arcndskerk, Franken, and Thorsov. PACIFIC ISLAND TRADERS. Maui Poraare sailed from Wellington on November 22 for Apia ancl Niue, and is due back at Lyttelton on December 12. Matua left Wellington on November 5 and Auckland on November 15 for Rarotonga, Nukualofa, Apia, and Suva. She is scheduled to return to Auckland on (Monday. DURHAM LEAVES LIVERPOOL. Cabled advice has been received that the New Zealand Shipping Company’s motor ship Durham left Liverpool last Saturday for Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton. Dunedin, and New Plymouth. She is due at Auckland on December 22. ARAWA’S MOVEMENTS. The Shaw Savill liner Arawa is now due at Wellington on Saturday, and is to clear Napier finally on December 3 for Southampton and Loudon via the Panama Canal. KOPARA ARRIVES. NEW RICHARDSON MOTOR SHIP.

On her maiden voyage from Antwerp, via Colombo and Fremantle, tho motor ship Kopura, 850 tons gross, the latest addition to the fleet of Richardson and Co. Ltd., Napier, arrived at Lyttelton on Monday, and will proceed to Wellington and Auckland to complete discharge. The vessel will then enter the Auckland-Napier trade.

Built by Henry Robb Ltd., Leith, the Kopura is of the shelter-deck type, her principal dimensions being 190 ft length by 35ft 6in beam by 21ft 3in depth. She is designed for a speed of 12 knots, and is capable of carrying a total deadweight of 950 tons on 4 a draught of 13ft Sin. Two holds give approximately 67,000 cubic feet capacity for easy stowage of general cargo, and these have large hatches with patent roller beams, each hatch being served by four electric winches ranging from two to 10 tons capacity. The accommodation for the officers and crews is of the highest class, ancl every consideration has been given to comfort, lighting, heating, and ventilation. The propulsion machinery consists of twin British Polar Diesel engines, working on the two-stroke cycle, having four cylinders and capable of developing continuously in service 1,280 b.h.p. at 250 r.p.m. Auxiliary requirements are amply met by two Diesel-driven direct cur-, rent generators, each of 60kw, with a 12kw auxiliary generator driven from the main engine for use at sea, enabling the Diesel-driven generators to be shut clown, except when entering ports or working cargo. Batteries arc installed for lights when all machinery is shut down. ROTORUA’S DEPARTURE. The New Zealand Shipping Company advises that the final departure of the Rotorua from Auckland for London via Panama has been postponed until 5 p.m. on Monday next. LONDON’S SHIPPING. During the week ended October 28, 1,053 vessels, representing 1,065,837 net register tons, used the Port of London. Of these, 549 vessels (873,256 net register tons) were to and from Empire and foreign ports, ancl 504 vessels (192,581 not register tons) were_ engaged in coastwise traffic. The arrivals included four meat cargoes—-viz., two from Australia, one from New Zealand, and one from South America—comprising 69,000 carcasses of lamb and mutton, 65,000 quarters of beef, quantities of pork, rabbits, and sundries. Twentyone timber-laden vessels docked in the Surrey commercial and India and Millwall docks with .41,000 tons of softwood. ‘ SULTAN STAR OUTBOUND. The Blue Star Line has been advised that the Sultan Star, with basic slag from Middlesbrough, left London last Saturday for New Zealand via South Africa. She will unload her slag at Auckland, where she is clue about December 29, and will load Homeward on tho coast in January. THE ORARI AT PANAMA. The New Zealand Shipping Company has been informed by cablegram that the Orari, outward bound from London, has passed through the Panama Canal, and sailed from Balboa on Friday afternoon. She is due at Lyttelton, via Suva, on December 12, and will complete unloading at Dunedin. Bluff, Timaru, and New Plymouth. HUNTINGDON AT CURACAO. Tho New Zealand Shipping Company has been advised by cable that the steamer Huntingdon,, which left Liverpool on November 5, cleared Curacao on Sunday afternoon for Colon. She is due at-Auckland on December 15, and will finish discharge at Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dnnecliu. IN RADIO RANGE.
