Before the Dies Committee, which is investigating un-American activities, Mr Harper Knowles, chairman of the American Legions’ California Research Group, alleged that the Labour leader, Mr Harry Bridges, attended a meeting of thb thirteenth district bureau of the Communist Party, at which a man was ordered to be killed. The meeting directed one Dave Saunders to dispose ol Raoul Cherbourg, who was later killed, his body being wrapped in chains and dumped into San Francisco Bay. Knowles brought 14 specific charges against Mr Bridges, including an allegation of conspiracy to overthrow the Government by force.
