SOLIDARITY WITH JAPAN DECLARED NEW STATUS FOR LIBYA Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright ROME, October 26. After sitting for four hours tho Fascist Grand Council, with Signor Mussolini presiding, issued a communication at. 3 a.m. announcing that the council sent a special salute to Japan on the occasion of .the Canton and Hankow victories. The statement declared : “The Italian people feel themselves bound to Japan by deep ideological, spiritual, ! and political solidarity, which continues to find the greatest expression in the Italian, German, and Japanese Pact.” The communication added that the council, ‘ after examining the situation in Libya, proclaims that Libya’s four provinces should now become part of the national territory instead of ranking as a colonial possession. A statute defining Libya’s new status will be drawn up at the council’s next meeting. IMPORTANT POLITICAL MOVE ITALY’S POLICY OF COLLABORATION WITH ISLAM. LONDON, October 26. (Received October 27, at 11.30 a.m.) The ; 1 Daily Telegraph’s ’ Rome correspondent says the Libya decision is interpreted as implying that the Italian Empire is being extended across the Mediterranean to Africa, the effects of which are of the utmost political and international importance. The advantages that can be derived by the natives are considerable, providing evidence of Italy’s intention to continue her policy in respect to and collaboration with Islam. It is announced in thjs connection that 310 Arab rebels who fled from Tripoli after the Italian occupation, have now submitted to Italian rule.
