DOMINION AWARD PROCEEDINGS [Per United Press Association.j WELLINGTON, October 20. A commencement was made to-day with the hearing of an application for a new Dominion award for soft goods warehouse employees. Agreement was reached on a number of machinery clauses, but as finality was not reached over wages,, hours of work, overtime, and holidays the hearing will be resumed to-morrow. Mr 'M. J. Reardon, Conciliation Commissioner, presided. Mr A. Miller (Auckland) appeared for the applicant union, and Mr W. E. Anderson (Auckland) for the employers. The union asked for a 40-hour week and substantial increases in wages. The employers offered a 42-hour week as in the old award, and an increase in wages of os a week, in accordance with the pronouncement of the Court of Arbitration.
