PETROL STATION ROBBERY
YOUNG SUSPECT ARRESTED [Per United Press Association.; CHRISTCHURCH, Octobr 20. Detectives this morning arrested a young man in connection with the armed hold-up at the petrol station at Chaney’s Corner on Tuesday evening. The police officers who were investigating the case were Detectives J. Halcrow, P. Burns, and R. Watt. On Tuesday night at 11.35 a motorist drew up at the petrol station and asked for a gallon of petrol. He paid for the fuel and stepped out of the car, apparently to receive his change. He then, it is alleged, produced a revolver and forced the attendant, K. Halligan, to hand over £24 in notes. Another garage employee, C. Clark, was also held up while the bandit collected the money. As soon as the man had driven off in his car in the direction of the city the police were informed.
