IMPERIAL EX-SERVICEMEN

A FRIENDLY SHOOT An enjoyable function was held at the range to mark the close of the Imperial Ex-servicemen’s Association’s Rifle Club’s activities for the season. A friendly shoot between, teams representing the executive of the Imperial Ex-scrvicemon’s Association (New Zealand) and the Rifle Club was carried out, and resulted in a win for the club by a substantial margin Several of the competitors, particularly those ex-naval ' men who shot for the executive, appeared to be unused to the club’s modern B.S.A rifles. A trophy which was handed to the club by the association was received on behalf of the Rifle Club by Mr H Spinner, the club captain, who expressed the thanks of the members for

this tangible token of the interest shown by the parent association in the welfare of the Rifle Club. On the invitation of the club captain, Mr, J. M'Knight, as president, presented the prizes to the winners of the several competitions held during the season as follows:—President’s trophy and club championship—Charles James 1, J. Gawne 2; Imperial Ex-servicemen’s Association trophy—Charles James 1, R. Leslie 2, H. Spinner 3; ladies’ prizes—most improved shot, Miss Drake 1, Miss Penman 2.

On the motion of Mr Spinner votes of thanks to the secretary, match secretary, and hanclicapper for their valuable services during the season were carried with acclamation. Appreciation of Mr C. Conway’s voluntary services as caterer was expressed by Mr Spinner, who asked Mr Conway to accept from the members of the Rif Club a cake tray as a tangible token of tho club’s esteem.
