SCHOOL ATHLETES
TECHNICAL COLLEGE SPORTS THREE NEW RECORDS The Dunedin Technical High School annual sports day was continued on the Carisbrook Ground yesterday afternoon, when a feature of the programme was massed drill by the pupils of the school. First the girls took the field and gave a most impressive display or Swedish exercises and marching, 'they were then followed by the boys, who gave a similar display, the final movement being a most spectacular one m which thev formed themselves into the initials of tire school. Music was supplied bv the school band and orchestra. The 120yds senior hurdles was the. only boys’ championship event not decided before yesterday’s meeting, and this furnished the winner of the senior championship—lt. Morrison, who won by half a point from Motion, the winner scoring 174 points. L. Puddy won the junior championship with ipoints to his credit, the runner-up, JWalsh, scoring 6. There was also good competition in the girls’ championships, P. Harvey winning the Senior Cup and J. Taylor the junior. Three new. records were established, P. Bloxham bettering the previous record for the half-mile open walk by 8 l-sseo. completing the distance in 3min 55 l-ssec. Simpson established another record ■ by throwing the cricket ball a distance of 93yds lit 6in. while in the girls’ 7oyds championship J.
